Joanne Kim, Senior Advisor
Joanne advises the Council Member on planning, land use, and economic development. She manages all major capital projects in the District and sets the strategic priorities for housing, transportation, and business development.
Before joining the City, Joanne served as Chief Operating Officer of Community Coalition (CoCo), one of the most effective community organizing institutions in the nation. For nearly 20 years at CoCo, she organized South LA residents, developed campaign strategy, and built its leadership and human resources infrastructures.
Joanne received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Master of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also holds a certificate in Executive Non-Profit Leadership from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Joanne resides in the West Adams area of South Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
