Rachel Brashier, Policy Director
As the Policy Director for the Council Office, Rachel oversees the Councilman's legislative agenda as well as preparation for Council and Committee meetings. She staffs the Councilman in his role as Chair of the Homelessness and Poverty Committee.
Prior to joining the Council Office, Rachel worked for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a press secretary focusing on housing and homelessness issues Citywide and prior to that served as a policy deputy and liaison to the City Council in the administration. Rachel also served as the Assistant Director for Community & Local Government Relations at UCLA.
Rachel attended Syracuse University receiving her B.A. in Policy Studies and her M.P.A from NYU. She is currently a board member with the Watts Labor Community Action Committee and the Vice President on the Board of the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats Club. She is also a mentor with Alliance for Children's Rights. A native Angeleno, Rachel was raised in Compton and Watts and continues to work for the progressive and substantive development of South Los Angeles. Rachel has been avid golfer through the years and loves to travel.
